4/28/2024 - SARED Likes this wine: 91 points91-92 This was delicious and ready to go. Slow-o'd it 6 hours and no idea if that was right/wrong but it was great when drunk. Makes me think the '18 Monvigliero I had a couple weeks of ago - which I thought was shut down - was maybe an off bottle. |

8/25/2023 - ylkim30 Likes this wine: NRBeautiful, archetypal nose of tar, roses, and cherry; On the palate, still plenty of dark, red fruit with streaks of mint and herbs, but its the delicacy on the palate and the silkiness of the finish that elevates this wine. Tannins are mostly resolved with just enough grip to keep the wine interesting. Downright Burgundian, this is absolutely delicious stuff. |

Many years (and many price increases!) since I last had this in my (relative) youth as a wine drinker. Really distinctive. Savory and fresh. I will have to pay 8x for another bottle of this in 20 years to see how this develops! |

With some coaxing, there was strawberry water, red cherry, bitter cherry pits and a long finish. Very light on the palate, yet a very long finish. Med+ bodied. Fruit was a bit high toned, jarring with the bitter cherry pits. I blinded a couple somms on the wine and they guessed ("shut down wine from a strong producer in an off vintage of barolo/barbaresco")... did they cheat!? At this point, I feel the wine will benefit from a few years, putting on weight as the fruit darkens and becomes more balsamic with age. A bit of a bummer because I really loved a bottle two months ago! |

There is a lightness to this wine/variety which is beguiling. The wine shows some orange tints, characteristic of Pelaverga, or age, I'm not sure. Delightful! |

4/12/2024 - jrick Likes this wine: 90 pointsMy third vintage that I drink of this - the previous two were 2017 and 2018. This seemed tö me the vintage with the last structure, the most Barolo-like. There is a Verduno mark to this I think, strawberries and sweet licorice. Eucalyptus as well? Enjoyable - to be exciting I would have needed either more umpfh or a lower alcohol, this feels a little bit too heavy to be really fresh or elegant, which I think is what Langhe Nebbiolo can deliver as their USP when they are best. |

Good concentration without being heavy, quite approachable despite the young age and slightly polished, modernist sheen. Sort of early drinking vintage. On the palate lovely rose petals, orange peel and black tea. Refreshing acidity and surprisingly civilized tannins, lengthy and attractive finish. A tasty entry level Barolo from an expensive top brass producer, I liked this quite a bit more than anticipated, most def. will improve with time though. |

Real depth beyond pure red fruit. Tiny bit warm; tannins still v serious; only likely to get better. Other end of the table thought that there was something slightly wrong with this - as it's my first bottle of Burlotto Monvigliero I have no idea! 92++ |
